Experience the Tropics at The Green Planet in Dubai

The Green Planet in Dubai opened to the public on Thursday, September 1. I never really heard anything about it until I saw a picture of a sloth on social media. One of my ultimate dream holidays is to fly off to Costa Rica and visit the sloth sanctuary. If there's such thing as a professional sloth cuddler, I would. A resident sloth at The Green Planet is the closest encounter I could have for now.

The Green Planet is Dubai's newest attraction located at City Walk. It's a giant bio-dome featuring over 3,000 exotic plants and animals where temperature and humidity level are regulated similar to a rainforest. Dubai brought a rainforest to the desert. Just let that sink in for a moment.

We left Abu Dhabi early to be the first ones in line at the venue. But never underestimate the kids who were more excited to see animals than us. There was already a long queue on its second day. After a brief moment, the staff brought a sloth outside. Oh my heart! I acted all giddy and happy, left the ticketing line and joined the kids who started circling around it. I was too fixated at the sloth that I never paid any attention to what the "sloth keeper" was saying. Too precious for me to handle!

Upon entering, you will be brought to the upper floor and walk your way down passing by several aquariums and a canopy bridge. Watch out for the free flying birds! You wouldn't miss the largest man-made tree in the middle. Real plants have been attached to its branches to give a lush tropical feel of a rainforest.

As an adult, what an experience to learn and appreciate our environment and the wildlife. If you have children, bring them to The Green Planet. Make them understand how nature nourishes us and how important it is to take care of it. Millions of species rely on the rainforest for food and water. Let's not put the ecosystem out of balance.
